Our client approached Scott Logic to replace an ageing on-premises clearing system for energy trading with a modern hosted solution.

Our client required a system that could be used worldwide by their brokers to clear trades to multiple clearing venues, and that featured simple but powerful instrument configuration. In collaboration with the client’s technical team we designed and implemented a modular, fault-tolerant clearing architecture that improved speed and reliability whilst simultaneously reducing the cost and risk associated with adding new clearing venues.

The new clearing system was developed by two Scott Logic consultants working with the client’s own development team.

We improved the trading experience for users by allowing them to drill down into audit information for each of their trades. We understood the importance to our client of a stable system that could be used 24 hours a day, and so we developed a mechanism for configuring new clearing venues while the system was in operation. We further enhanced the flexibility of the system by enabling admin users to add custom workflow stages for reporting and regulatory monitoring, either for all trades or selectively by broker.

Our solution has improved our client’s ability to expand their business by reducing the time taken to deploy a new clearing venue from months to days.
