Laying firm new foundations for Scotland’s public services

Scott Logic Solutions Architect Stuart Roebuck has been seconded to a key role in the Scottish Government’s Digital Directorate, as part of the First Minister’s Digital Fellowship Programme.

As Principal Technical Architect, Stuart will spend the next twelve months helping to establish common platforms and services for use across government and the wider public sector in Scotland.

While Scott Logic will obviously miss Stuart’s expert insights during the year of his secondment, the company could not be more supportive of the important work he will be engaged in for the Scottish Government: contributing towards its bold digital strategy, Realising Scotland’s Full Potential in a Digital World, which aims to introduce shared technology platforms and common processes for applying for services, and making and receiving government payments.

Stuart will bring his industry-leading solutions architecture expertise to bear in support of three programmes:

• New payments platform – Stuart will be technical lead on this programme, helping lay the foundations for a user-focused shared service to be rolled out across the public sector.
• Digital commercial service – he will contribute to the development of this new service which aims to transform the way in which digital projects are procured and managed in the public sector.
• CivTech® programme – he will support the award-winning CivTech® programme which brings together public sector expertise and private sector creativity to solve real problems, develop new products and deliver better, faster and easier services for everyone.

In addition to these three areas of responsibility, Stuart will also be a key member of the Digital Architecture Practice within the Digital Directorate – contributing to the development of the vision, practices and patterns for the common platforms that the Scottish Government is building to support its public services.
