Cloud Operations Engineer

The role

We’re looking for Cloud Operations Engineers to work on detailing and implementing best practices for our clients' cloud platforms and services… is that you?

Scott Logic builds large-scale, bespoke, business-critical systems for some of the world’s most high-profile organisations and our Service Management team – which you'll be a part of – complements this established and well-respected design-and-build service offering.

The Service Management team works in partnership with the consultants at Scott Logic to ensure that best practices are maintained and that systems are integrated successfully into production-ready operating environments. We are delivering several exciting cloud-based programmes to clients including the Scottish Government. The Service Management team is responsible for delivering operational support and incident response for these new customer-facing services.

In this role, you will be:

  • working with Cloud Delivery Engineers to architect and build AWS infrastructure to meet requirements
  • utilising build automation, configuration management and CI/CD deployment solutions to deploy services to production environments
  • establishing operational excellence in the configuration of dashboards, creation of operational run-books and operational build of the platform including the configuration of resilient architecture, backup/recovery and monitoring services
  • delivering automation for functions such as: Monitoring, Alerting, Incident response, Patching processes
  • working with the operational support team to provide out-of-hours support for live platforms on a rotational On-Call cycle as services come online
  • working to resolve service issues and outages in accordance with incident response processes and generating root cause analysis documentation to help prevent future occurrences of similar incidents

This role is based in our city-centre office in line with our hybrid working approach, and will likely involve occasional travel (infrequent day trips or a few days at a time) to visit our clients across the UK and beyond.
