Senior Technical Support Engineer

The role

We’re looking for a Senior Technical Support Engineer to join the internal IT support team here at Scott Logic. You’ll be supporting our staff as well as building and maintaining our systems and infrastructure. We’re in need of someone who is technical and approachable... is that you?

Scott Logic builds large-scale, bespoke, business-critical systems for some of the world’s most high-profile organisations. We’re expanding our internal IT function slightly to help us cope with a changing environment following the global lockdown and changes to our ways of working.

To be suitable for this role, you’ll be an experienced senior-level engineer with hands-on experience running, supporting, and maintaining complex production environments. You will be a critical thinker and will be able to work as part of the Technical Services team as well as able to function autonomously when required.

We will recognise your experience and fundamental skills. If you aren’t getting a chance to use modern technologies and practices in your current role, we can help you to build your skillset. One of Scott Logic's core values is to ensure its staff can develop their skills, and we have many initiatives in place to support this.

You’ll be surrounded by smart, highly capable people in a collaborative environment that encourages helping others by sharing knowledge and experience. We’ll help you develop your career further, taking growing levels of ownership.

You’ll have experience:

  • supporting customers with a wide variety of issues
  • assessing, troubleshooting and resolving root causes of issues
  • managing Office 365, Azure and Exchange Online environments
  • administrating, operating, updating, and securing Linux and Windows operating systems
  • working as part of a technical team to achieve project goals
  • working with Hyper-V virtualisation
  • working collaboratively with Information Security

In addition to this, you should have a good understanding of:

  • core network protocols and services (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
  • on-premises rack-mounted infrastructure
  • working with Jira and Confluence

Highly desired experience/knowledge, but not essential:

  • Administrating Jira Server/Jira Cloud
  • ISO 27001 and ISO 9001
